On September 27, Luke Macfarlane attended the opening gala event for the Los Angeles Philharmonic, which featured Music Director, Gustavo Dudamel, and Creative Chair for Jazz, Herbie Hancock. The opening gala event was held at the Walt Disney Concert Hall.
The evening – Rhapsody in Blue: Opening Night Concert and Gala – was taped by PBS for broadcast in the U.S. and Europe at a later date, and the audio was broadcast live on Classical KUSC, APM affiliated stations, ClassicalAPM.org and NPR.org.
“I really really enjoyed Herbie. I felt like he brought something incredibly different to Rhapsody and I don’t know if it’s going to be everybody’s cup of tea but for me it was really watchin a jazz musician play orchestral music. I leaned into him and that’s what he wanted us to do,” said Brothers & Sisters actor Luke Macfarlane.
