So, I just saw today that Luke Macfarlane submitted episode 2.16, “Prior Commitments,” for his Emmy consideration for the category of Drama Guest Actor.
Although, that is not the episode I would have him submit to the Emmy’s, because it does not showcase his acting strength in that episode. I would have chosen either episode 2.08, “Something New,” or episode 2.11, “Missionary Imposition“. Both of which really showcase his guest star status as well as his wide range acting skill. I would choose the former over the latter for submission, but any of these two would have been better than “Prior Commitments” which seems to fit Matthew Rhys more for a submission than for Luke.
Will “Prior Commitments” be enough to get him noticed to get a nomination for the Emmy’s? I don’t think so. I do think he would have a fair shot with the other episodes instead. Oh well, live and let learn…
So, what are your guy’s thoughts and opinions? Good choice? Bad choice? Please discuss in the comments!!

How does the submission works, is it the actor who chooses?
I would choose “Missionary Imposition” too, he showed many different feelings and acting skills in that episode.
Keep the good work Kong!

I agree with everything you said Kong! I think he should have submitted 2.15 because I think he would/should win an Emmy solely for his “Ta da!!” and his ‘clutching of the pearls’ in the proposal scene! :p

I already gave my opinion on the B&S board, but 2.08 or 2.11 would have been better.
And my choice would be with 2.11 because he showed the wide range of his acting capacities, but I agree with Icalee that maybe it is also not a good idea. The 2 major scenes show some good acting from the part of Eric and Mattthew as well and that takes the focus away from Luke.

I agree with Nick and episode 2.15 “Moral Hazard” for the submission. Matthew Rhys, I hope, also submitted “Prior Commitments.” He was so great in that… and in episode 2.15. Come to think of it, Ron Rifkin was also so great in “Moral Hazard.”

I don’t think he’ll get a nom no matter what he submits, but I agree that 2.16 isn’t his best. I liked the one with the kiss in the car, whatever ep that was.

That was episode 2.11. I still say 2.08 was the stronger one….because you saw a highly emotional acting from Luke, from sympathy to anguish to avoidance. Luke wore a lot of masks in that episode. It really showed.

I totally agree that “Something New” was a stronger ep for Luke. Unlike “Missionary Imposition,” the Scotty scenes are just Kevin & Scotty, allowing for their great chemistry to shine through w/o interference from another character.
